If you’ve published a Docs document as a Web page, you can make the Web page update automatically whenever you edit the document. If the preview doesn’t look quite right, then go back and edit the document before you share it. 13. You can add YouTube videos to your Docs presentations. In the blue bar above the edit pane, click "Insert video". Google opens a box where you can search YouTube videos by keyword. Find the one you want and click it to select it. If you use Firefox or Internet Explorer to browse the Web, install the Google Toolbar so you can keep an eye on Gmail, add events to your Calendar, and open files as you zip around the Web. 7. Use Gmail’s colored labels so you can scan your messages and quickly find what you’re looking for. Or simply use Gmail’s awesome search feature to zero in on a message. 8. Creating a Web site? Don’t get flummoxed by HTML, CSS, or any other what-the-heck-does-that-mean acronym. Use Google Page Creator, which comes preloaded with layouts and color-coordinated themes so you can see your pages as you build them. 9. Speed up data gathering by creating a form that automatically feeds data into a Google Docs spreadsheet: Create a new spreadsheet, and then click the Share tab. In the "Invite people" section, turn on the "to fill out a form" radio button, and then click "Start editing your form". The form can have text boxes, multiple choice lists, checkboxes, and radio buttons. Click "Next, choose recipients" and specify who’ll receive the form. You can publish the form to the Web or embed it in your Web site or blog. When someone fills out the form, the info goes straight into your spreadsheet. 10. Send or receive files as you chat in Google Talk—no waiting around for someone to remember to send them via email or drop them off at your desk. I began my new business with the intention of doing everything in the cloud and thus Google Apps has become a critical part of this business. While it is incredibly robust, Google Apps isn't full-featured and I have wasted countless hours looking for a workaround for some of the more simple things that MS Word does so well. That's where I though this book would come in handy.The reason for the 1-star: it is severely outdated. I feel bad about the 1-star but how else can you rate something that is no longer relevant?Given the dynamic nature of Google Apps I should have known that any "hacks" I might employ would be of limited use. I ordered this book earlier this year and finally pulled it from the shelf today for a nugget or two of usefulness. I tried two of the most dirt-simple hacks listed in the first few chapters and both failed--even the websites referred to in the text for more info didn't exist anymore! Naturally I have no interest in wasting my time finding out what parts of the more advanced hacks listed in the book are outdated as well.I'm sorry to say that this book appears to be worthless. Very upset with this purchase.

To call it "The Missing Manual" is quite a misnomer. This book only covers the bare-bone basics of these Google services. If you can get your way around the Microsoft Office suite comfortably and are looking for a guide to the finer points of the Google Apps, then while this book might offer a couple useful tips, at least 98% (or 99.8%) of it is stuff you can already do intuitively without any additional guidance.I have to chuckle and agree with the reviewer who complained about its being too "chatty." The author does attempt a casual tone, perhaps to lighten the perceived boredom of manual reading (and writing), but much of the effort ends up muddying up the instructions, making the most relevant points of each section harder to spot, though if you do want to read the whole thing through, then the chattiness might just help you get through the toil.While the various Google services have evolved a long way since the book's publication, because the stuff it covers are the most basic know-hows, it's still helpful for a beginner, but you will have to spend some time locating the correct buttons and places on the menus on your own, because the current look no longer matches the screenshots.

If you use any Google Applications this is the book for you. I liked it so much that I had to get another one and give it away as a gift. While Google applications are always changing this book gives you 90 % of what you need and it even covers information that I didn't know. It's well worth the price and is the only book out there that tells it all. for example, I didn't realize that if you register a domain name with google that you can switch it over to GoDaddy.com since that's who actually registers the domain name for them. It tells you that and how to transfer evertything properly. No more printing out of help text to find out how to do things.

Well organized and all inclusive in describing all aspect of the Google Apps suite. Highly recommend to learn the Google apps as I am doing and keep as an excellent reference manual. I highly recommend this book to anyone interesting in exploring and learning Google Apps.

As a contract system administrator that is constantly recommending and implementing Google Apps for business (formerly Google Apps for Your Domain) I thought this would have some more in depth insight. This is not good for an administrator, but would be alright for an end-user.I also purchased Google Apps Administrator Guide which was recommended on the same page and IT was the one that had the information that should be in this book too. There was very little mention about the business implementation and administration of the actual Google Apps. This was a how-to book for users of Google Docs, rudimentary usage of Google Sites, and being a "power user" with Gmail. Not a "hack" book of the business version of Google Apps.

Chapter 13 talks about some really cool apps that just don't exist anymore...or at least I can't find them in the playstore or chrome extensions. Very confusing.This book is maybe 600 pages, and has some very good sidebars and in-depth info on using various features. I've stalled and can't read more for now... It's comprehensive. Kinda boring, but I guess I'm glad I have it, in case I need to look anything up. This is a great resource.

A good reference book is always helpful and that is what this book does. It will get dog eared in a hurry

I was very disappointed with this book. The majority of the content isn't even technically about Google Apps. It goes into YouTube and Blooger and so forth. It even covers software that isn't by Google at all!By doing so, it completely loses focus. On top of this, the content in the book is not very deep. The "hacks" are rather obscure, without covering any fundamentals or anything I would actually want to do.I spent about two hours with it and it's sat on my shelf since. I shall likely resell it so as to not have wasted the paper!

Great book about the Pullman and sleeping car business in general, as well as other facets of the overnight trains and connections prior to Amtrak. It brought back a lot of memories and had some great photographs. It is arranged by the states for better understanding.

Summary of state operations by passenger railroads, state by state maps of passenger rail lines, appendix listing by state of trains with location, consist, joint operating roads, origination and termination information and schedule times. Absolutely the very best source of information about long-ago and recent (to the 1950's) operations. It is authoritative and reliable. I bought a second one because the first started coming apart at the spine from constant use. It took a while, but reading and studying it has given me a comprehensive understanding of how passenger trains operated and interchanged all over the U.S.

This is a fascinating history of American overnight sleeping car train travel during its golden age, roughly from 1920 to 1955. There is a chapter for each region or state, plus chapters on long-distance trains that carried Pullman cars. The book notes the departure cities as well as the destination cities of Pullman sleepers during this era. The book should appeal to train enthusiasts, to people interested in the history of the hospitality industry, and to people interested in business history more generally.

The book answered my questions of night trains through my home town when I was a young child. Thanks

I ordered this , looking for the "lively account" mentioned in the description. What I received instead was a dry as dust listing of various trains that ran in various regions of the country. There was no mention of what it was like actually riding these trains, the stations they pulled into or customs and traditions of various lines. It was one step up from reading a telephone directory.

This is one of my all time favorite books. I love railroads and this is an excellent reference book on the Pullman system. It gives you which railroad and which of their name trains operated by state. There are also sections on trains from Chicago & New York to Florida, trains from Chicago to New York and from Chicago to California and to the Northwest. There is also a section that lists every train with its consist at one point in time, March 1952.I use this fascinating book quite a lot. If you are interested in Pullman cars then you will truly value this book.
