Bought the paperback version. Felt so cheated. It's vastly different from the hardcover version. I had always previously bought the hardcover version. Paperback version is the size of a novel and the contents are all in black-and-white print, no color at all! Font is also much smaller. Ad on this site does not mention that the paperback version is so dissimilar to hardcover version.

I order a Guinness World Records book every year for my uncle, who loves useless trivia. I have to say, though, these books are really nice. Hardcover and large with thick, brightly printed pages. Great for any library.

I bought this for my 6yr. Old nephew for his birthday. His family said every night when he goes to bed he loves to look at it and reads with them. My son use to love this when he was 6-10. Even the adults were reading it on my nephews bday. Good gift and I highly reccomend it.

I read the GWR as a kid and got the newest edition for my own children. I am not so fond of the new design. The layout is magazine-like and for how huge the pages are, the text can be shoehorned into pretty tiny areas.The layout is pretty chaotic and inconsistent from topic to topic. This 2018 tries to apply a “Superhero” theme to everything and it just doesn’t work. I also don’t like how several pages are devoted to commercial content about superhero movies and videogames and actors - none of which relate to world records.

Bought this Amazon Prime and it came quickly. It's a wonderful book that is keeping the attention of our pre-teen. I love that we are hearing lots of fun facts from him. Tallest trees. Eagles from South America. All about forest fires. I have two that love to read long chapter books. This one will only do that when he's made to. This gives him paragraphs at a time and he soaks up pages at a time. Great reading alternative to a long chapter book. Nice pictures. Mine is hard cover. Very happy with purchase!

I bought this for my 8 year old step son and he literally did not put it down all weekend. He has a lot of phone quizzing everyone and asking questions and sharing fun facts. Great buy and interesting facts.

What kid doesn't like the oddities and wonders of Guinness World Record books? Bought to be a birthday present for a friend. Thoroughly poured over before it was gifted. Now kiddo wants a copy of his/her own.

My daughter loves facts and figures and this was right up her alley. Fun kid reading. Only one problem: hardcover biding ripped immediately. We had top tape it up in the first 10 minutes of use.

In the late 1940s, Memphis radio station WDIA became the first to target its programming to a largely ignored black audience. "Cannonball" Cantor, one of the few white announcers on WDIA, tells how this decision resulted not only in business success, but mirrored America's nascent awareness of African American culture and social issues. While featuring shows with the now-quaint titles of "Tan Town Jamboree" and "Sepia Swing Club," WDIA influenced a generation of young white Southerners who would soon meld the blues they heard on the radio with country music to form rock 'n' roll. African American on-the-air personalities and community involvement led to a more positive self image for listeners and paved the way for the civil rights struggle of the 1960s. A light and lively history of WDIA, the country's first all- black radio station. Located in Memphis, WDIA is where blues greats B.B. King and Rufus Thomas got their starts. Cantor, who is white, worked on the control-board of WDIA during the 1950's; here, he records the shifts that took place at the station from 1948, the year in which it broke the color barrier, through the 70's and 80's, when it lost its unique voice in an increasingly integrated society. He writes of Nat D. Williams, the station's first disc jockey, an erudite high-school teacher and newspaper columnist who was also a natural comedian, and of Theo ``Bless My Bones'' Wade, a gospel deejay who got his name after accidentally spilling his coffee on the air. Cantor also describes B.B. King's arrival at WDIA (he came ``in out of the rain one day with his guitar wrapped in a newspaper to protect it'') and the Saturday night ``Hallelujah Jubilee,'' a live show that attracted so many local gospel groups eager to perform that it was impossible to get into the station. WDIA was always white-owned and made few political waves, but, as Cantor persuasively argues, it played an important role in the black community not only by giving African-Americans airtime, but also by performing extensive public service. WDIA made thousands of announcements regarding everything from lost false teeth to missing persons, built low-income housing, and established the city's first black Little League. Also included here is background on the evolving racial climate of the South, and information on WDIA's influence on radio stations across the country. A must have

Great book

This is an excellent history of WDIA. I strongly advise this as ONE of the key books on the subject of Black Radio in America. My Father was one of the white guys that stayed on with the station during the format change. DIA is pivotal not because of the claim of being first (not exactly correct), but because of the importance of so many of the key players and their influence on Black Radio and R&B.Nothing has been written that really expresses the role of the R&B stations and the community. These places were gathering places for urban politics, black teens, religious leaders and so much more. We saw stations fire bombed, towers blown up, death threats and insanity beyond belief. We saw station move VERY slowly to some black ownership and the eventual death of the format as corporate media acquired these outlets. It was amazing and sad. It was a very strange and wonderful time, and it is lost forever.Read all you can. It was an era that was better lived than described. Thanks! Mr. Cantor for the great research, I wish you could have conveyed the vibe.

I read this in 2 days and could have easily read in one if I didnt have kids, job, and a husband.It was a fun and quick read. Def a chick lit romantic comedy , which typically is not my style. But I truly enjoyed the hell out of this one!

I absolutely loved the first few pages. I was very intrigued by the concept of the book and really looking forward to reading it.The “ meat” of the story started and it was just profanity filled. I really despise profanity using the Lord's name in vain for no reason at all. I may just be considered a little uptight, but I will not read a book that has to resort to that kind of language for no discernible reason. It was just a conversation between two girls and not necessary nor did it add to the conversation.I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

"It’s a wonder everyone who uses public transport in winter doesn’t keel over and die of germ overload."I really, really loved this novel. It was just so cute and sweet but deep in certain parts and evoked all the feels.One day in December, Laurie sees a boy while she is on the bus, and they lock eyes. The connection is instantaneous and for Laurie, it is love at first sight. Both are too stunned by the quick connection to get on/off the bus, and they don't see each other again... until that boy shows up at a Christmas party a year later on the arm of Laurie's best friend. GAH!The story goes on to follow Laurie, the boy Jack, and her best friend Sarah as they navigate through their twenties, dealing with the trials and tribulations of life.It is was just so endearing, I couldn't put it down. I stayed up til 2am to finish; I had to know what was going to happen with all my new friends (aka the characters in the book). It is, at times, laugh out loud funny, and other times I was soaking a kleenix with my tears.For a cute little seasonal read, I highly recommend this novel :)

I’ve done little else for the last 24 hours aside from reading this book! I fell completely in love with this story and characters! Truly brilliant writing, fantastic dialogue, wonderful complex and endearing characters, and a story that is remarkable...romantic, poignant, compelling, heartwarming, charming, and funny. These characters and their story stole my heart. This line took my breath away, “You tread lightly through life, but you leave deep footprints that are hard for other people to fill.” Sigh......

This book was a perfect read. I liked the back and forth between all the characters I also LOVED that I could look up the streets that were named in the book on my I phone and feel like I had a better picture of what the story was telling me. The recipes at the back of the book, the book club questions how it ended and the fact when I googled the Grease reference in the book it popped up and I saw that it was an actual event i London. I also looked up how her pendant would looked like that she wore and then gave to Sarah. Perfect holiday read!

I dislike writing in journal's but because I'm on a weight loss journey this one is by far the best journal I have come across!! Well worth every penny! It helps teach and remind you to love yourself first each day, stress relief, vitamin intake for the day, thoughts, feelings, food tracking, water intake and to eat beautiful and healthy for your body because you are worth it!! I will definitely keep purchasing!!! Thank you for amy perfect journal!!

My daughter has been using this. She intially rejected it when she saw the flowery cover. I thought maybe I would keep it for myself. As I leafed through the pages, I saw lists of foods that help with various ailments. I also noticed the food diary part also asks how a person feels at meal time. I showed it to my teen and she now loves the book!

Initially, when I bought this, I thought this would just be a food diary. Turns out, it's a great read. I felt very inspired and motivated. I learned a lot about healthy lifestyle and about myself. The book provides a different outlook on our eating and living habits.

I love this journal. It provides a lot of valuable information about the health benefits of foods and takes a really positive approach to eating in a way that treats your body well. I don't generally like keeping track of my food, but this does it in a way that encourages eating for the good of your body, rather than meticulously counting calories. It really helps me to think about the cause and effects of what I put into my body.

I am in love with the whole Eat Pretty series. The collection of books and the journal have really helped change how I look at food. I love that the journal doesn't just ask you what you ate but also how that food made you feel. There are not many pages for entries so I made sure to write one on a good eating day and one on a bad eating day. This reminds me of how I feel after the bad choice meals and helps me stay on focus. I highly recommend these books to anyone that is serious about nutrition.

I have Jolene Hart's Eat Pretty cookbook and I have used it extensively. I follow her social media pages as well and love everything she has to say. So it was a no-brainer to get this journal when it came out. It is just as pretty and eye catching as her cookbook. Pretty things motivate me =) May sound funny but it keeps my attention more than a plain black and white print book with no art. The journal is very interactive and the daily food diary is very useful. It may not be enough for the health enthusiast who already knows their stuff but I find it helpful and encouraging for me.

An easy read with lots of good information. Only thing I'd like better is bigger text and in a more readable color. The light green is harder for older eyes. But I'd recommend.

One of my favorite gifts to give my clients! It feels perfectly crafted for a feminine hand and a feminine style. Each page offers great nutritional information and inviting to use. It's a great wellness journal to give as a gift or to motivate yourself into a healthier and happier way of living.
