I read this book several times to my class of 5th graders every year- because I feel like it really speaks a lot about life. I work in a Title I school, where we are really focusing on getting all of our students to succeed- via whatever path they choose after high school. Many of our children had never been out of the county before this year, when we took them on a field trip across the state to a zoo. I feel like this book not only encourages them, but also kind of gives them a heads up of the reality of "later life". Sometimes you aren't on top of the world, and you do get lost, and you do have to keep going to try to get out of your rut. And you don't want to be caught with the people who are just "waiting around"...we want them to be proactive and do something about it. I save up all year and purchase each of my students a copy and write a note to them individually, so that they know that they have someone who is in their corner, really pushing for them. That being said, I also read this to my own small children- because they just really enjoy the story, and all of the pictures.

Classic Dr. Seuss story. What more needs to be said?We purchased one copy for each of our kids. We have their coaches, teachers, etc. sign the book after each season with a little message. We plan to give them the books when they graduate from high school. What's really neat is they are 6 and 11 and have no clue we have been doing this. Hopefully we can keep that up and it makes a nice surprise and keepsake for them.

I gave this book to my stepchildren when they graduated from college. I read it myself in my 30s because I was a freelance writer, and this simple book helped me gather the courage to open myself to all the possibilities. I had a very successful career as a freelance writer of only non-fiction. In my retirement, I need to read this again as I'm now writing and indie publishing serious mid-grade/young adult fiction as Pleasant Oliver and once again, I need its boost of enthusiasm and courage for all the wonderful possibilities and opportunities that are going to come my way! In Spring 2018, I will give it my great nephew as he graduates from high school, and in later years, I will give it my other great nieces and nephews when they graduate from high school--maybe again when they graduate from college!

I bought two copies of this book for my children. Once they complete a grade in school, I will have their teachers sign it, and I will give them the book with notes from all their teachers on the day they graduate. Granted, I stole this idea from facebook, but it's so cute and Doctor Suess is such a great author.I have read it to them once and will read it to them every year before school starts. It's an adorable and inspirational book to remind them to keep pushing forward. Dr. Suess was the first author I ever read (The Foot Book, to be exact) and I while I have seen this one all over the internet, I had never read it before I bought it for my kids. The product itself came to me in two days, I have Prime, and there were a few nicks on the corners of the book. But I wouldn't say they're overly damaged or whatnot. Just don't expect the product to come in perfect condition. If you're going to steal my idea, the one I stole that is, I recommend storing the books in air tight bags in between readings and having them signed.

I paid nearly $20 for the hardcover book and then paid to import it to Ecuador. Wow am I upset that the publisher printed the words and pages the opposite direction of the cover. For $20 in the kindle age there really is no excuse for a publisher that sells thousands and thousands of copies to product work like this. I have read others complaining about the same issue. You need to check your quality control and be prepared to give a full refund when this happens. Then again, how hard is it to open a book and check it before you sell it???? Really really really annoying and is VERY upsetting since the taxes and shipping to import were more than the messed up book!!!!! GGGRRRrrrrrrrr Dr. Suess.

We got 2 of these for our son and daughter's teachers to sign as they grow up (to give them when they graduate). We're also writing letters to put within the pages over the years. The books are of great quality and should stand the test of time. I've also seen them used as 'advice books' where guests at graduation parties write little bits of advice for the graduates.

What is there to say about this book that hasn't already been said?! It makes a great Graduation gift (I bought 8 of them on Amazon for HALF of the list price!) and is a timeless classic. This is the exact same quality, hardcover book (with dustcover!) but at half the price. Thanks, Amazon!

As described, wonderful book. I got a copy for high school graduation and have decided to get my toddler a copy and have his teachers and therapist's write little notes overy the years and give to him at his graduation. He has severe autism and I want him to be able to look back at all of the people he may not remember, but they helped get him where he's going.

Last One Home by Debbie MacomberHave enjoyed the other works by the author and this one sounded interesting.Starts out with hide and seek with the neighbor kids...then the story moves to the present day...a story of domestic violence and Cassie is with Maureen as she goes through the court process, charging her husband with abuse...After Cassie returned to WA she found out her father had died and none of the family can aide her with money...Cassie ends up with a hairdressing job and volunteers at the women's center.Story also follows Karen and Nicole, each of their lives and families. Karen has contacted Cassie to come get the furniture from their mothers house who had passed away...and now Cassie is eligible for a Habitat House for her and her daughter as long as she gives back with volunteering..She's also eligible for catering which will give her money to get a rental truck to get furniture from her mothers house...Story follows all three women and their life's as adults and memories of days spent together when they were younger...I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Although the storyline was hopeful for women to rise above abuse and deceit I tired of the daughter, Amy. She needed more parenting. She was out of line in the way she spoke to Steve and then when she kicked him ... that action should have been dealt with in a much stronger way. I found her constant begging and interruption annoying.

Let me start this review by saying that I am a HUGE Debbie Macomber fan, have read many of her books and really enjoyed them. This one is OK, but just didn't feel like the character development and story lines were as strong as other books she's written. It was totally predictable and at times overly redundant. I always get her newest release pre-ordered so that I can read it shortly after it arrives. This is the first time I've been disappointed in one of her stories.

I really do not like writing a critical review but this book was so disappointing. Not one character was developed; it actually seemed like the author had rushed to fill the pages with enough words to meet a deadline.

I loved this book so much, but parts of it were hard for me to read because of a past marriage that was full of mental abuse & recriminations. I love how Debbie made the characters seem like my family, as if I were Cassie. I have a special place in my heart for Debbie's writings. They have been instrumental in healing my wounded soul more times than I can count. I have read many of her books. Her faith in God is also something we have in common. We are sisters in Christ. I thank you Debbie & can't wait to read the next one!!!!

When I first started reading this book, I felt I knew how this was going to turn out - woman and man don't like each other - man and woman fall in love - but I was surprised at the twists and turns of events. It almost didn't happen but it did. There are three sisters who grew up together but one ran away and got married because her parents didn't like the dude. Turns out they had good reason and she found out the hard (and painful) way. The story was mainly about Cassie, the middle sister but is interwoven with all three. In the end, they all had some forgiving to do and came together to support each other. I am a fan of Debbie Macomber and have enjoyed all of the books I have read by her.

Enjoyed it up until the end, and it seemed to just fizzle out. Some plot threads were left hanging, which always annoys me. I got a little weary of the daughter's constant chatter which kept interrupting the flow of the adult dialogue. But, over all, it was an easy read and somewhat uplifting.

Two stories. One about the youngest girl who runs off to be married and once married husband abused her and completely cuts her off from her family. The second is that her two sisters seem to have perfect marriages but that is only a mirage the youngest sister finds true love while her siblings struggle many have seen similar situations.

I buy all of Ms. Macomber's books. As with any author some are better than others. This book took forever for me to get into. I found myself seriously disliking most of the characters, and that didn't change as I worked my way through this book. I did feel sorrow for what the main character had been through, but found her sisters despicable. Her child? Well I raised two daughters and at twelve let me tell you they would never have been allowed to act this way. She was bossy and nosy and her mom just smiled and took it. I felt that the characters never redeemed themselves. This book seriously left me wanting. I am a voracious reader, I left this book enough to read two other books and a novella before I could finish it. On the good side, both books were recent ebooks by Debbie and I enjoyed them as much this time as I did the first few times I read them. I am really looking forward to the next Rose Harbour novel.
