Erik Schubach has found another obscure piece of Norse myth to weave into his Valkyrie Chronicles. It turns out that the Valkyrie only get half of the slain for Valhalla, the other half are claimed by Freya for the meadow called Folkvangr. Some of this detail is available on Wikipedia, but you have to know what to look for first.As to the story, a thousand years have passed on earth and Valhalla is ready to transition to the next world. Here, too, someone was left behind. In this case it is Kara's aunt, Freya. Besides the obvious reunion of aunt and niece who each have spent six thousand years thinking the other was dead, there is exciting and dramatic plot elements that I won't spoil here.It's another great story, this series just keeps getting better and better.

Having read all of the other books by Erik Schubach I went into this one with high expectations. I was not disappointed. Familiar characters, New characters and the always emotional story telling was all I had come to expect from these books. Strong characters whose actions and thoughts bring you to laughter and tears, make you smile and feel a part if their tales. Freya's tale of exile and her efforts to save the people she had grown to love and care for and her reuniting with Kara and Odin were strong, moving threads in this tale of valor and strength of belief. One person an make a difference.

I wish I was better at writing book reviews because I know my words do not do these books enough justice. I thought j was in lot with the MOTS books but wow I really love The Valkyrie Chronicles. I love being able to escape to another world better yet worlds. I love all the action and power and compassion all these characters have. When this book came out I quickly read the other two books and went on a 4 day Valkyrie marathon and now I eagerly await the next book and I can not wait to see what will unfold next.

As always Erik Schubach has crafted another amazing story for his fans to read. I was not a fan of Sci fi before his Valkyrie series but now I am. His characters continue to dazzle me with there humor, spirit, and insight to there feelings and there world. Buy the series and buy any of his books it is well under priced and worth every penny you spend!!

Erik schubach has done it once again with his new addition to the valkyrie chronicles folkvanger here we travel to another planet that the ragnarok have also invaded with new people to meet and ofcourse the valkfela schubach has once again given us another work of art that is filled with wonder, excitement, adventure, some heart ache and ultimately love

Everything Erik writes is great- not a single bad novel yet- this series is fantastic sci-fi with heroic women (with super-heroic powers) battling to save their alien culture and the planet Earth too

It a fun tell of Valkyrie culture along with Norse Mythology and a little science fiction. But at the heart is a get to know you lesbian tell, understand stated with just a few kisses between battles. No Sex. Still it's fun.

Wounderful twist on legends and myths of the past. Nano technology with attitude thrown in with larger than life hero's makes you hold your breath to see if their gonna blow up the world when they loose their temper. Very entertaining.

I was looking for a broad and basic description of Pythagorean numerology, and I believe I have found it in this modern classic, The Complete Book of Numerology by David A. Phillips, Ph.D. The author clearly and succinctly explains the methods of determining key numbers such as the Ruling Number (called Life Path in some other texts), day number, and name numbers. He also demonstrates how to create a birth chart and a name chart and explores deeper concepts such as Arrows of Individuality and Pyramids to identify peaks in the nine-year cycle of change.In addition to the calculation of numbers and configurations of charts, the author provides basic descriptions of the meanings of numbers in various situations. He includes detail in using the knowledge to better understand traits, develop strengths and overcome weaknesses. The book can be easily used as a working handbook of practical numerology.There is more, however. Phillips provides background about the philosophical and metaphysical underpinnings of numerology as a science. This includes chapters on such esoteric subjects as the connection between astrology and numerology, relationship compatibility, and even reincarnation. Giving just enough information without overwhelming the novice (like me), the book lives up to it’s subtitle: “Discovering the Inner Self.”One of the things I look for in reading nonfiction is whether the book stimulates me to learn more, to pursue further information on the subject, and a desire to explore the topic in greater depth. This book certainly did that.

I really had high hopes for this book bec of the reviews and bec of the introduction. There certainly are positive things here but, from my other readings and analysis, his categories for the numbers is WAY OFF in one respect.He calls '2-5-8' as the spiritual/soul numbers. This is COMPLETELY INACCURATE. The 8 is about material aspects, the 2 is about duality and the 5 is about the senses. For those who are new to numerology, this a disservice. For those who aren't this can be skipped but it put in question a lot about what's positive in this book.I don't want to give it '1-star' bec it states that "I hate it". I do not. For those who are new to the field, bear the above in mind.

With Every fiber of my being I know I was a wonderful mother. However, I would have been awesome if I'd known what I know now. I was so impressed I've shared this book with my grown Sons and various spiritual friends. Numerology resonates with my soul. "To know oneself is to know the Universen is to know GOD!"

Having heard of "Wuthering Heights" through most of my life, I was looking forward to discovering what has made the book such a classic. It has turned out that it is a disappointment. The cruelty of the protagonist, Heathcliff, is repellant. It may be that in the time in which the story is set, an individual like him could have gained the sort of control over people and property that is described in the book, but every step of the way, I found myself angry and wondering how this man could get away with his hateful treatment of all those around him. Obviously there is an audience for the melodrama of "Wuthering Heights", but it is not something I can recommend.

There is something about this book that draws you in even though most of the characters are self-centered and malicious and you tend not to like them. The current of love, lust, and possession runs throughout the story which is told to the new renter of "The Grange" by the housekeeper of Wuthering Heights. As she sits and knits she spins the tale of the tempestuous love story of Cathy and Heathcliff, slowly but surely you are pulled in to all the machinations that the Lintons and Earnshaws and the orphan Heathcliff engage in across the cold, damp, windswept moors of the Yorkshire estate. Your mind becomes filled with Heathcliff, always Heathcliff, watching planning and deeply in love with Cathy. The story follows their lives through two generations.As a reader, I have to wonder what state of mind Emily Bronte was in when she wrote the turbulent tale. Published in 1847 the story was considered lurid and shocking, but a masterpiece. It is Bronte's only novel and is as relevant today as it was back then. Emily Bronte had been ill for some time and died in December of 1848.

A timeless classic. I read this book a long time ago and decided to read it again. Enjoyed it even more as a more mature women. :-) It's a sad story that makes you feel sorry for many of the characters but it's a good escape back to a time and place so different from where we are now.

I enjoyed the book. I was surprised how our modern-day language has, apparently, been dumbed down over the years. I'm college-educated, but found many words she used to be ones I had never heard. That said, I still enjoyed the book. I probably should have read it years ago in some English class, but it was never required. I took my time with no looming deadlines and enjoyed it.

Read the description. This is an 8.5 × 11 monstrosity that is masquerading as a "paperback". Ridiculous. I mean, sure, shame on me for not reading a description, but when most people say paperback, they don't mean a students textbook. Sheesh.

There are two reviews here, since this special version of the book has two things going on. When I was a kid I had some weird built-in prejudice against anything labeled "classic". Unknowingly I read "Tom Sawyer" and "Huckleberry Finn" and even Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar," but I thought I had "discovered" them--had anyone told me they were classics, I wouldn't have read them. Stupid, but true. When I was in my thirties I read "A Tale of Two Cities" and re-thought my whole position on the classics--maybe there was a reason they were called that. So I read a lot of them, but I never read "Jane Eyre." I saw about four different movie versions of it, though, and figured I knew the story well enough. But when Writer's Digest announced this version, I saw a chance to correct an omission AND get some good writing advice. KM Weiland's book on structure, after all, is a masterpiece. Hence, this double-edged review.1. Jane Eyre. The movie versions I've seen were, surprisingly, fairly true to the book (not often the case, as anyone who reads a book and then watches its movie knows). Shy governess, obnoxious-but-philosophical middle aged guy. Crazy wife in the attic. Missionaries. They hit all the high points. But Bronte's prose is well-done, and her characters are far more complex than the movies. She has a great way of building suspense, too. Even though I knew what was going to happen, I wanted to see it happen, so I kept reading. And I was satisfied when I closed the book: a good story, well-told.2. The notes. Weiland's notes are, at the risk of sounding sycophantic, brilliant. Remember, these notes are about the writing of the book, not about the historicity or any of the other kinds of analysis you'd usually see in annotations. (My annotated "Sense and Sensibility" practically explains each curtsy as well as why dances lasted half an hour.) There's plenty of analysis, but it's all about how Bronte tells the story. For readers of Weiland's "Structuring Your Novel," it's like a Part II, showing the First Plot Point, (p118), Midpoint (p216), Third Plot Point (p325), Resolution and Epilogue. There are even pages at the back with questions (and lines for answering them or writing other notes) about structure. But wait, there's more! There are notes on perspective, voice, POV, conflict and tension, obstacles, character development, transitions, and way more than that. (I'm laundry listing here--but trust me, the notes could practically be their own book.)I'm a writer myself, though you won't see my name in Amazon in that capacity--I ghost write. Under my own name, I'm also a freelance editor (developmental, substantive, and copy--you name it, I do it) and have been one for years. But I still read books on writing all the time. Some I love, some I tolerate, and a few I've ridiculed (after jumping up and down on their tattered remains). But this book is its own category, or perhaps it defies category. It's a writing master class, analyzing a masterpiece of English literature to make its key points. If I were a writing teacher, this would be required reading for my classroom.One thing alone keeps the book from getting the fifth star, and it's a mechanical thing, nothing against Bronte or Weiland. They did their jobs well! But the typeface for the story is a serif font, and it's ten points at most, maybe eight. I needed to buy a +2 set of "cheaters" to read the story alone--and the notes are worse. They're a pale blue sans serif (the contrasting serif/sans serif fonts are good; the size is not and the pale color is not) that was hard to read even with the +2 cheaters. The notes are in the outer margins and take up about a third (one column) of each page. I wish they'd gone for broke and instead of giving us a six-by-nine (I'm eyeballing it, so the measurements are probably not exact), gone up a couple of sizes, just for the sake of those of us who are over 40. Then maybe they could've made the print a decent size.

This old classic is a classic for a reason. IF I read it in high school I don't remember it. So I enjoyed a delightful read over several days, savouring the descriptions, enjoying the character development as well as the plot. At first I thought it was a children's book, but after reading it, I think the children of today would have a hard time understanding many of the beautiful uses of the English language that Charlotte Bronte perfected.
