I read a lot but very rarely right a review unless I feel strongly about what I say. When I read the description of this book I wasn't going to give it another glance untill I scrolled down to read what people had to say. True to their word this book had so much depth to it, I honestly say I fell in love with characters and felt all of the emotions of this book. Be it love, excitement, despair, anger, frusteration romance, hope, trust...it was all just so beautiful. So clean and tender and makes you search your own soul for where you stand with God and who you are in times of difficulties. I gotta say, as good as Lori Wick is, this book blew me away. Love it.

Very enjoyable reading. Reading about the hardships of those in the 1800's makes me realize how fortunate we are today in some ways, but hardships seem to give these characters more strength and determination and faith. Even though it is fiction, it gives a window into the past.

Okay, I LOVE Clayton! I want to find a man just like him...Oh, he is so caring and so loving...I can't say too much because I'll give things away, but I will just say that he stood by her no matter what. She hurt him so deeply, yet he was still there when she needed him!Oh, and Richard (was that his name?) He was so stern and the head of the household, and the sisters learned that REALLY fast!!! Jackie did get on my nerves, I must admit. But in the end it all made sense...This book took so many twists and turns, I never knew where it was going to go next...I loved where it ended up though! I can't wait to read book 2!!!!

Getting to know the families was fun. Normal characters made exciting as they face everyday trials and blessings. I look forward to the next book.

Lori Wick writes great Christian novels. She is one of my favorite authors. Her stories are always filled with people of faith and often showing others how to find Christ. Love, faith, suspense, and laughter, she has it all.

Vivid is the best word I can use to describe this book. This year, I have read several "Amazon adventure" type books, beginning with The Lost City of Z, and then The Lost City of the Monkey God, and finally this one...and this one might be my favorite. As other reviewers have commented, this book takes you right into the Amazon with the author, and you really can envision the wondrous world he describes as if you are right there with him, stalking predators and observing thousands of species. This story gets right into the action, and places the reader right where you want to be - in a hammock listening to wild bird calls, crawling on the jungle floor looking for ants, floating down a river surrounded by the real possibility of getting lost forever. The author is honest and young, and has a very good grasp on his privilege in the world and how he might be able to use that to save the jungle he grows to love. It's really an astounding tale, with great imagery and real tension. If you like adventure in mysterious places, this is a great pick!

As a person who loves nature, and an environmentalist who has a deep feeling for biodiversity, I LOVED this book. Couldn't put it down. Sat in a chair from morning til night, getting up only for bare essentials, until I'd finished it. Gave it to my friends and they raved about it. Just the title, Mother of God, had intrigued me because, whatever people meant when they named this tributary of the Amazon Madre de Dios, the name infers to me how a rainforest river is the birthplace of an explosion of life. I liked the author a lot. His explorations are courageous, his story is amazing, he is an excellent writer. His desire to be a scientist, but live and write as a lover of what he studies is on the right course. This book is how I want to be taken to the Amazon or any other wild place as a reader. It made me want to go there, despite snakes, crocodiles and mosquitoes. His recent exploit, after the book was published, of trying to get eaten by an Anaconda for a film (which can be seen on YouTube)is not on a right course. Perhaps the great success of his book has gone to his head. I was appalled, but scientists and environmentalists alike often have to figure out whether they are going to promote the environment or promote themselves; save nature or exploit it for fame; live one's life or make an exhibition of it. Rosolie is young, he has all the makings of a great modern explorer, he has time to make mistakes and learn from them. I hope he survives whatever attack of terrible judgement caused him to undertake getting swallowed by an anaconda, that he continues his documentation of the wild Amazonian rainforest, lives humbly and writes more books like this.

This is a wonderful story of 2 forty-something year olds, Scarlett Adams and Hudson Flannigan. Both are divorced and don't have a lot of confidence in themselves. At Last Chance Ranch, they both begin to get their confidence back and find themselves falling for each other. Of course, that can't be easy and it takes a while for them to realize they belong together and at the ranch that they helped come to life. A great start to a new series.

I am never disappointed when I read a book written by Liz Isaacson.....and am totally amazed that she can keep coming up with such wonderful stories to catch my attention and make me glad that I've always loved to read books....and it does my heart good to read about middle aged people finding the love of their lives.......love and companionship isn't just for the young, middle aged men/women and even senior citizens can find love as evidenced by this story.....thanks so much, Liz for giving me hope ! ! ! ! !

I love this author's books. They have wonderful stories. You laugh you cry and you never want it to end. Great characters with real issues that we all experience. You won't be disaapointed!

Romance, clean; series but stand alone readLI is always a favorite read! More of a 3.5 for me as a reader. Genuine honest characters with past hurts that gradually open up to each other, and learn to trust and love again. Both Scarlett and Hudson have worries and secrets. As they each help each other and figure out their present and work on their future, their sweet fall is beautiful to read. Great side characters, and with the back story and their pasts, a lovely read.

Every book written by Liz Isaacson, that I have read, have been wonderful. She has an excellent way of writing the story and portraying the characters that you feel you are right there in the story.
