I was looking for a broad and basic description of Pythagorean numerology, and I believe I have found it in this modern classic, The Complete Book of Numerology by David A. Phillips, Ph.D. The author clearly and succinctly explains the methods of determining key numbers such as the Ruling Number (called Life Path in some other texts), day number, and name numbers. He also demonstrates how to create a birth chart and a name chart and explores deeper concepts such as Arrows of Individuality and Pyramids to identify peaks in the nine-year cycle of change.In addition to the calculation of numbers and configurations of charts, the author provides basic descriptions of the meanings of numbers in various situations. He includes detail in using the knowledge to better understand traits, develop strengths and overcome weaknesses. The book can be easily used as a working handbook of practical numerology.There is more, however. Phillips provides background about the philosophical and metaphysical underpinnings of numerology as a science. This includes chapters on such esoteric subjects as the connection between astrology and numerology, relationship compatibility, and even reincarnation. Giving just enough information without overwhelming the novice (like me), the book lives up to it’s subtitle: “Discovering the Inner Self.â€One of the things I look for in reading nonfiction is whether the book stimulates me to learn more, to pursue further information on the subject, and a desire to explore the topic in greater depth. This book certainly did that.
I really had high hopes for this book bec of the reviews and bec of the introduction. There certainly are positive things here but, from my other readings and analysis, his categories for the numbers is WAY OFF in one respect.He calls '2-5-8' as the spiritual/soul numbers. This is COMPLETELY INACCURATE. The 8 is about material aspects, the 2 is about duality and the 5 is about the senses. For those who are new to numerology, this a disservice. For those who aren't this can be skipped but it put in question a lot about what's positive in this book.I don't want to give it '1-star' bec it states that "I hate it". I do not. For those who are new to the field, bear the above in mind.
Captivating, not just an excellent introduction but also an advance tool with graphics and examples to assist you in understanding and appling to your life. With Every fiber of my being I know I was a wonderful mother. However, I would have been awesome if I'd known what I know now. I was so impressed I've shared this book with my grown Sons and various spiritual friends. Numerology resonates with my soul. "To know oneself is to know the Universen is to know GOD!"
I have dabbled in numerology for many years. I still don't know whether I believe in it or not, but some things I find out are striking in their accuracy. I have another beloved book by a different author and this one differs from hers in many ways. I'm learning new things about numerology from this book, new ways of looking at numbers. The difficult part for me is putting it all together so it makes a cohesive picture of an individual. I practice on my family's numbers, because I know them all, and I already know their personalities and traits. I'll be studying this book for a long time. As with my other favorite numerology book, this one is warm and encouraging and easy to read. The subject fascinates me!

I was able to analyze 20 different people's birth charts and ruling numbers to which all were dead on point with amazing accuracy. This one is no joke! Much better than anything I've read online about Numerology. This is the real deal! BUY IT! You won't regret it.
This is the best book about numerology I've read, it was written by a master, he explains the spiritual aspects of Numerology very well. The book has 3678 pages, if you are truly wanting to learn more if the power of numbers then read the whole book. It will not tell you your fortune, but rather the impact numbers have on your life. It is also very spiritual!
I had no idea how numerology worked. I was impressed when I saw Scott Russell Hill use it with good results, so I gave it a try. Working step by step through the book I worked out a chart for my Wife and then myself. The readings were surprisingly accurate as far as developments in our lives, spiritual paths and characters are concerned. So much so, that I have decided to do the same for some of our family and friends.

I recommend it for anyone who is just broaching the subject, as well as those who want to dive a little deeper.
