The Eagle (Spy Girl #2) by Jillian Dodd4 stars!!!“That is where you are wrong, my dear. You merely won a battle, not the entire war.”This is such a hard review to write because everything is a spoiler, but the missions of Huntley Von Allister continue with a vengeance in The Eagle. After saving the Prince of Montrovia in The Prince, The Eagle starts with some well-earned downtime for Huntley, but it seems the world of espionage and assassinations have time for no-one.As I said in my review for The Prince, the Spy Girl series is a cross between James Bond, Spy Kids and Nancy Drew. Huntley Von Allister being the orphan of spies who was subsequently placed in a Spy Academy as a child for protection and to hopefully emulate the success of her parents. Now trained and having already successfully completed her first mission, mission number two awaits. After the assassination of the American President there is only one assassin who could have pulled off such a feat, an assassin that was presumed dead years ago. The assassination of the President is the first of a few hits and now Huntley and Ari need to thwart the subsequent attempts and take the killer out. This is a mission that has failure written all over it and now Huntley must put her life on the line once again.Huntley’s back ground is still not really known but Jillian Dodd does give us a few more snippets of information perfectly building the suspense and intrigue with regards to how Huntley finds herself in the situation she is now in.“So when were alone, we felt like a fairytale?”“In most fairytales, the girl doesn’t lie to the Prince.”A Jillian Dodd book would not be complete without man candy and The Prince of Montrovia and Daniel are still the love interests vying to get Huntley’s attention. The Prince is still my front runner but Huntley is still of the opinion not to get emotionally involved, the first rule of being a spy. Daniel I still don’t trust and I am sure that there is something sneaky going on behind the scenes with him.“You have to come back, Lee… Because I think I love you.”Fashion, humour, wit and fantastic banter are prevalent throughout and really cement this as a YA read. Huntley is a lot more serious and focused in this book rather than acclimatising to wealth and social occasions so you can already see her growth. For a spy though she is inherently compassionate and it is this trait that could cause her the most problems. Huntley really needs to dig deep in her gut because it is her instincts as to who to trust that will be her biggest weapon. There are so many “dodgy” characters in this book, Jillian Dodd is spinning the webs and I cannot wait to see who gets caught.Bring on mission 3!!!

With the way Spy Girl ended, one would think The Eagle would pack a bit of a punch. And man does it ever. Talk about a page burner. I ate this book up. I love me some suspense and I also love me some hardcore romance. I love that Huntley is such a kick-butt heroine. I like that she is all business with a touch of play. Her part is played well. But I wonder, is it really a role she is playing? We are given bits and pieces of her back story and what had happened to her mother. We are also given bits and pieces of all of the yummy men lusting after her. So, I suppose this book leads me to believe, we will expect the unexpected!!With The Eagle, Huntley is sent on a new mission. The mission is to find the person who took her mothers life, and finish him. It was a fly by the seat your pants, from start to finish read. This book has Huntley on a personal mission, and you could feel the desire to seek vengeance on, 'The Priest.' Talk about woah, lots of surprising factors pop up throughout this mission. I mean, things I didn't even think could happen, happened. Get ready to be blown out of the water with this book! The Eagle was another great addition to this series. Who knew with each book, Huntley would grow so much. She is another one of my favorite heroines, that Author JD has created. With the way things ended in this book, it had me gripping with excitement to start The Society.

For those of you that have read Spy Girl, The Eagle is a MUST READ! This book picks up right after Spy Girl ended and takes us on another crazy ride, where we are left with more questions, yet seem to get some answers, and a lot of action in between.Huntley is trying to relax after everything that has happened and is waiting for her next mission and is still looking for answers, Daniel has joined her on the yacht and Lorenzo is not pleased about it. Both of these men are vying for her heart and she refuses to give either it to either of them. She has a job to do and she can't lose herself to a man. When she's back on US soil things get even more interesting, but at least she has Ari around to help and it's very interesting to see who all they can and can't trust. There is so much that happens in this book that and through it all and everything Huntley goes through she keeps her humanity which is something I admire about her. This girl has been through more than anyone should EVER go through. She is sent on a mission that is risky and puts her in a lot of danger, but she takes it knowing she may get some answers she has always wanted, but it only leaves her, and us as the readers with more questions! This book with all the different subtexts thrown in gives us some insight into who or what may be pulling the strings and even though I'm kicking myself for not reading this book when it came out, I'm actually happy I waited since book 3 (The Society) is now out so I can dive right in and see if we get some more answers. If you're looking for a suspenseful read with a heroine that you can't help but love, the Spy Girl Series is one you should definitely pick up today! Jillian Dodd does not disappoint with this series!

Jillian Dodd does it once again!!!! I'm not gonna lie I didn't think that this book would even come close to being as good as The Prince ( spy girl book 1) but I was way wrong this was intense action packed in which the suspense had me so engulfed. X or should i say Huntley is such a smart resourceful power character with a heart of gold. I was so entranced by this book once I started I couldn't put it down. So many clues to X`s past and future rides on who she can trust and if her memories come back. Great job Jillian I am definitely going to read your other books while I wait for the release of The Society (Spy girl book 3).
