This combination of exquisite, mature talents has rarely been seen or duplicated in children's books. What they accomplished was so amazing that on a publishing level alone, this book deserves its top ranking. This is a complete work because these three people were completely in rhythm.Speaking of rhythm, what I love best about this book is the way the lyrical cadence of the story is perfectly matched to the pictures by a classic one-two-three beat. There are two facing pages of black and white text and pictures (the one and the two beats) followed by the double-page color spread (the third beat). This pattern is represented throughout the story. It's little wonder that children are both lulled by and glom to the heartbeat of this book.

There's not much that hasn't been said about this timeless book. All I can say is I had never heard of it until my wife got pregnant and I began looking into books for babies/toddlers. This was at the top of my list after researching, and I'm so happy to have purchased it. The art, wording, alternating black and white with color pages, and storyline are wonderful. It engages my son, he loves looking at the bunnies, and it truly is a calming book for everyone before bedtime. This was written over 60 years ago, so it makes you feel a bit like you're in a bygone era. Simplicity, values, family and education are all focused on in this book. We've been reading it weekly for the past 20 months, and will continue to do so for another 40! I highly recommend this book, along with other Margaret Wise Brown books.

These make terrific shower gifts that will far outlast any other gift and will instill the love of reading. and bonding. New MOMS read to your infants, expectant Moms, read to your fetuses. They do recognize Mom's voice. Research proves this!.PS I am doing an EDIT because of comments I read regarding this classic. Please do your research and read about the psychology of this book, its author, Margaret Wise Brown whose biography, The Great Green Room was fascinating, and treat yourself to the DVD of this. Mesmerizing and soothing. By the way, you all missed the fact that the mouse's placement "moves" on each of the "colored" pages. Engage your little ones with, "where is the mouse"? I hope you are encouraged to revisit this book. It will be time well spent and definitely worth it.

I wasn't going to buy this book for my child, assuming it was just another story for children that was popularized for no reason. However, my otherwise boisterous toddler proved that this book was worth it's weight in gold. From the first reading, she sat perfectly still, absorbing every word and picture of the book, and was completely fascinated from beginning to end. So much so, that she insists on me reading it over and over before bedtime, every night now. She seems to find something magic in the story that maybe only children can see. Indeed, this is a very special book. She particularly loves the mouse and the old lady whispering hush. I can't recommend this book enough. It is really amazing the effect it has had on my child!!!

Bought both hardcover and board book . . . hardcover version came w/outer cover, which was thin & wrinkled, pages weren't glossy (pages also thin, almost see-thru) expected better quality for price . . . board book version binding spine has gap when opening book to turn pages, illustrations and words are tiny. Kept the board book version only because though it would hold up better for 1 yr old, BUT had to order it twice because first one came scratched and top was peeling on front cover. Also, for those not familiar w/story please note that some pages are in black and white ... page where story says goodnight to mouse .. . mouse is really teeny tiny (in both hardcover/board book) ... and towards the end where story line says goodnight to turn off lights, illustrations were really dark and hard to distinguish. Could've, should've been way better.

This book is missing a page. It hoes from the firat page which is "In the great green room there was a telephone and a red baloon and a picture of... Next it should say " a cow jumoing over the moon" but instead it goes straight to "and two little kittens and a pair of kittens" totally missing thw page about the cow jumping over the moon.

I am pretty certain I ordered a new copy of this book to add to the collection I’ve started for my unborn son. This copy has worn edges and even has a personal note to somebody else’s kid written in it!

 The copy I received was a board book missing the second page. It doesn't appear to have been ripped out, just forgotten during manufacturing. But it's obvious in a book everybody has memorized.

Read this to my children, gave as gifts to my grandchildren and just purchased it again for my great grandson. This is perfect for a little person who is too young for most childrens’ books. I like the way the pictures become darker as bedtime approaches. The board book can be touched by my five month old without it being harmed. I also like the fact that the central character is is bunny and culturally natural. Two of my great grandsons are mostly Scandinavian but the youngest little guy is half Hispanic/Dominican and all children can identify with a bunny.

I am fascinated by forensic anthropology, and few can explain the concepts and procedures of the science like Dr. Bass. His first memoir, Death's Acre: Inside the Legendary Forensic Lab the Body Farm Where the Dead Do Tell Tales was tremendously interesting as he wrote of his formal academic introduction into the field and recounted his development of the "Body Farm" interspersed with some stories of his work as a forensic anthropologist. In this second memoir, Dr. Bass discusses 13 new cases he worked on, providing additional insight into the tools, technology and methods that he (and his graduate students and colleagues) have developed and pioneered.The cases themselves are riveting,each (like the stories of the people themselves) are unique and tragic: the case of a home-made fireworks factory that went horribly wrong; the anguish of a family unsure if the body they buried was indeed that of their mother; answering the question of whether J.P. Richardson ("the Big Bopper") survived the plane crash that killed Buddy Holly before succumbing to his wounds. But beyond the macabre fascination of the details of these cases is the sheer brilliance Dr. Bass demonstrates as he clearly, succinctly and briefly explains his craft and the way he is able to arrive at the conclusions he does. “… on television, they always solve the crime in an hour (actually, in forty minutes, if you subtract the commercials).”So true! This was a fun read, although definitely not a fast or easy read. I expected it to be heavy on the science, and I wasn’t disappointed. I especially liked the follow-through as he revisited several cases over the course of decades as new technologies and techniques made it possible to solve earlier crimes that couldn’t have been resolved without the new tech. And I liked that it wasn’t all wrapped up in a bow – in some cases there really weren’t definite answers – a reality that is frequently ignored in the CSI mindset.As with all the random non-fiction I read, I had hoped to learn something. In this book, I learned quite a few things. Among others, I had no idea that “Although identical twins can’t be distinguished from one another by their DNA, they can be told apart by their teeth.”I also enjoyed his sporadic attempts to lighten up what is surely a seriously dark topic by throwing in personal details like, “Luckily, considering my line of work, I have a poor sense of smell.”And the starting pun was particularly astute. I’m sure that “People these days are just dying to get into the Body Farm….”My only complaint is that the book ended rather abruptly for me at only 79%. Had I been reading the print version (and not the e-book), I would have likely noticed that the backmatter (acknowledgements, glossary, etc.) formed 20% of the book. As it was, I was left expecting more because I’d assumed I had at least another 4 chapters to go…

I love how Dr Bass tells his stories. His sense of humor is wonderful and he fascinates with the details he gives. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I also read Death's Acres, and enjoyed that as well. I even had an autographed copy of it, which unfortunately was lost in a recent fire with 5,000+ of my other books. Sold devastating. But I was disappointed that in the labeled Photo Insert section of this book, there were no photos. The captions were there, which made it worse, as that really made me want to see the photos. It's the only reason I gave this book a 4 star instead of 5 star rating.

I have read every book that Jefferson-Bass (Dr. Bill Bass & Jon Jefferson) have written. Very very interesting. Not for the faint at heart. If you like CSI, you will like this book. I can't wait for them to publish more books.

The text is a joy to read, the writing is superb. Bill's character seeps through the recaps of actual cases he and his students worked on. Covers a wide range of technology and methodologies Bill and his crew have deployed. Stories are not too dark or depressing. Told in a light tone, even comedic at times.

I went to school at UT and Had Dr. Bass as a professor one semester. I enjoyed the class although I just made a C. I guess I did not enjoy his exams so much. But I really like his books. This one is extremely interesting and informative. If you are a Bass fan, you need this one for your collection. It really explains a lot about his work and the body farm which is actually by the UT campus.

Couldn't download this book fast enough. Already familiar with the Body Farm; Fabulous insights into it's inspiration and growth as well as multiple cases from Bill Bass career. The prologue alone is remarkable. While reading this also bought his Death's Acre.

This book tells the story of Bill Bass, who years ago, started the "Body Farm" at the University of Tennessee. It goes into the mysteries he has solved through his knowledge of anthropology.

This is a MUST have for anyone desiring to learn the truth regarding the Civil Rights Movement from and eye witness. Having been involved myself in a different southern state...the astonishing way Congressman Lewis brings everything up close and personal has left me speechless. We've come too far to let slip the very things we've fought so hard to achieve. This would also be a wonderful teaching tool for teachers. Teachers...be the hand extended to the next generation. I've found it personally challenging to trying to explain what it was like back then. It seems it's due to a lack of knowledge and no frame of reference to those that ask me so many questions. PLEASE, get this set.

This series is beautiful and moving, informative, uplifting, and vitally important. It was so when the series was conceived and begun, but moreso in the intervening years as little by little the progress outlined in these books, forged by the civil rights movement decades ago, is being whittled away.I hope to see a day when this is merely history and not a warning, a call to vigilance. These books should be required reading in public schools across the nation. Representative John Lewis is a living national treasure, the last living legend of the 20th century civil rights era. That makes him sound like Captain America, and in a way he is, except he's real.March covers John's early life and the beginnings of his involvement in peaceful protest. He embraced nonviolence fully then and continues to do so today. March rightfully and clearly outlines the events and the atmosphere that lead to the need for the March from Selma to Montgomery, and the marches that preceded it.The March continues today, as voting rights have been turned back, as hate and bigotry have once again moved to the forefront of our nation and government. Let this be our guide to resistance. The moral arc of the universe is long (the key word here), and it bounces as it tends toward justice. I am saddened and depressed that so much of the evil that almost prevailed at that time is awakening yet again. These evil entities created World War II in the Pacific and in Europe. I am not as good a person as Congressman Lewis and I dearly wish this evil would permanently die now.

This copy is for my grandson one day, I have mine on my kindle.. it is giving me knowledge I didn't know during the actual time I lived through, not aware of the horrible treatment of fellow citizens of this country. Today I am grateful I can share with my Grandson the foolishness of believing untruths just because they claim to be a "man of the cloth". Today it is a person in a cop's Uniform.

“Universal Rhythms” is an excellent book designed to help the advanced and professional drummer expand his/her concepts for drumset part creation. Dave is one of the hottest drummers and educators on the scene today. This book details his brilliant approach to building drum parts that accent and accompany a melody, in this case one of five commonly used (universal) rhythms. I really enjoyed working through this book and gained new musical inspiration, ideas, stickings, and flexibility on the drumset. You may also want to check out “Drumset Overlay” by Blake Paulson, which works as a good companion/prerequisite book.

Dave Weckl studied Gary's New Breed. Look what happened to him. I think Dave Dicenso's book will help contribution to a new generation of not just incredible drummers, but incredible musicians as well. Honestly some of the book's material can even be benefitial to other instrumentalist. Dave Dicenso has a very interesting approach to provide knowledge in a vast field of different musical styles yet linked together on a mutual basis (5 universal rhythms). Once you understand this approach, you will hear these basic rhythmical concepts in many types of music, which will developp the 'macro view' or 'bigger picture' of groove and song structure which will open doors for musical creativity. Maybe not for the beginner drum student, but with some basic skills you can start right off, and skip parts if some of them are too difficult.I was looking for a book that doesn't just provide different grooves in a disjointed way, but on the other hand not for antoher dry concept book. In my eyes Dave Dicenso managed to compose a thorough multi stylistic educational approach, that will help for all the important aspects of musical drumming. And it contains some of funkiest and nasties grooves and fills that make a lot fun!

Dave DiCenso has developed the most in depth system for mastering your voice and internal grasp on groove. Dave's understanding on groove, melody, and developing the right feel for a song is one of the greatest that I have had the privilege to witness. This book has helped me develop those same skills using an organized system of steps to master the universal rhythm and all its different styles and permutations. I felt like this book was more for a sex therapist, then for a individual. She often assumes the readers will know all her terms/and how to do them (e.g. tantric massage).

As a man who has tried to understand women since the day I was born, I can say that Living an Orgasmic Life fills in a lot of gaps. The author's first hand account and easy-to-read honesty bring clarity to many things that were smothered during our upbringing. Ms. Pailet maps out a path with concrete steps to take toward self discovery and greater pleasure. This book offers men an inside track into how to understand and please a woman. (And it's probably good for women too!)

Xanet has done a great service presenting a compelling subject. Well written and easy to read, she presents well researched and very human stories and insight. Bringing her vulnerability and openness makes it more compelling and personal. I heartily recommend this book to anyone interested in human relations and intimacy.
